AS 3958:2023 Installation of ceramic and stone tiles
Standards Australia
Supersedes: AS 3958.1-2007 Ceramic tiles, Part 1: Guide to the installation of ceramic tiles
Supersedes: AS 3958.2-1992 Ceramic tiles, Part 2: Guide to the selection of a ceramic tiling system
Supersedes: AS 3958.1:2007 Amd 1:2010 Ceramic tiles, Part 1: Guide to installation of ceramic tiles
Draft Designation: DR AS 3958:2023The objective of this document is to specify requirements and provide instruction on the preparation of the background and the bonded fixing and grouting of floor and wall tiles, including mosaic tiles and panels. It also provides information on the application of tiles in swimming pools, gradients on floors, screeds and rendering, cleaning and maintenance.
The major changes in this edition are as follows:
(a) Amalgamation of AS 3958.1 and AS 3958.2 into one document.
(b) Change from purely a guidance document to one that includes requirements.
(c) Inclusion of requirements for stone, reconstituted stone and glass, in addition to ceramic, tiles.
(d) Inclusion of requirements for panels.
(e) Inclusion of greater detail on adhesive types and information regarding reaction resin adhesives, low modulus adhesives and reaction resin grout.
(f) Major revision of methodologies, as a result of the inclusion of current materials.
