Draft Designation: DR AS 4575:2019The objective of this Standard is to specify essential requirements and basic standards for the delivery of Type A gas appliance servicing, repair, testing and conversion from one gas type to another.
Guidance on quality management systems of Type A gas appliance servicing, repair, testing and conversion from one gas type to another is provided in Appendix G.
The AS/NZS 5601 series specifies requirements for gas installations applying at the time of installation.
This Standard is not to be regarded as an instruction manual for untrained persons.
This Standard has no legal standing in its own right, but may acquire legal standing in either of the following circumstances:
(a) Where adopted by a Government or other authority having jurisdiction over relevant installations.
(b) Where adopted as part of an installation specification.
The servicing, repair and conversion of Type A gas appliances described in this Standard may require authorization under legislation.
Users of this Standard should be aware of and adhere to the safe working practices to be employed when working on gas installations or appliances, as covered by any relevant workplace health and safety legislation. Users of this Standard should take precautions to mitigate any hazards present in the gas installation and vicinity of the appliance being serviced.
The terms “normative” and “informative” are used in Standards to define the application of the appendices to which they apply. A “normative” appendix is an integral part of a Standard, whereas an “informative” appendix is only for information and guidance.
