This checklist is NOT the Australian Standard; it is an interpretation and is not intended to replace it.

For some years bunk beds have been covered by an Australian Standard AS/NZS 4220:1994 and the Accreditation
program has encouraged campsites to use it to assess safety. The Safety Policy Unit, Consumer Affairs Division of The
Treasury made it mandatory that bunks sold after November 2002 meet an amended and simplified version of the
Standard in a Consumer Protection Notice.
