Bushfire Verification Methods Handbook

This handbook has been developed to provide guidance to practitioners seeking to demonstrate compliance with the Performance Requirements for construction in bushfire prone areas in NCC Volumes One and Two, using an NCC Verification Method. The handbook will be of interest to all parties who are involved in selecting or assessing elements of buildings that must comply with the NCC Performance Requirements relevant to construction in bushfire prone areas.
This handbook’s scope relates to Bushfire Verification Methods G5V1 and H7V2 which are optional Assessment Methods that can be used to demonstrate compliance with the relevant NCC Performance Requirements.
The building classifications to which the NCC applies bushfire related Performance
Requirements are:
(a) a Class 1, 2 or 3 buildings; and
(b) a Class 9a health-care building; and
(c) a Class 9b—
(i) early childhood centre; and
(ii) primary or secondary school; and
(d) a Class 9c residential care building; and
(e) a Class 10a building or deck immediately adjacent or connected to a building of a type listed in (a) to (d).
